2013 Black Christian Fiction Authors on Parade: Linda Leigh Hargrove (w GIVEAWAY)

Racial reconciliation and social justice are two themes threaded through the inspirational novels of author Linda Lee Hargrove, which is why she refers to herself as an author, a speaker...and a reconciler.

Hargrove burst onto the literary scene with the acclaimed work, The Making of Isaac Hunt, the story of a black man with blue eyes and skin so fair he could pass for white who goes search for his biological roots takes him to the small Southern town of his birth where more than one would rather the truth remain buried, and at least one is willing to kill to do so.

Hargove followed her debut success with book 2 in the Isaac Hunt series, Loving Cee Cee Johnson, which continues the saga of family, faith and forgiveness in Pettigrew.  Cee Cee Johnson, an African American reporter, has avoided her hometown, a place filled with poverty and hate, until an assignment takes her home and leads to the unraveling of well-crafted life, one rooted in hard work and a big lie.

A native of North Carolina, Hargrove hails from the farm-rich northeasetern corner of the state. Growing up, she spent much time exploring the backwoods of her farming village along with her sisters, which fueled her love for words, color and other creative pursuits, like knitting, crocheting and painting.

Hargrove's fiction blends suspense, humor and faith into compelling stories about race and class in America. Book 3 in the Isaac Hunt series is currently in search of a publishing home, although Hargrove is considering self-publishing the completion of this series.  In the meantime, the former environmental engineer operates a web and print design company, and serves as an engineering instructor and advisor at UNC Charlotte.

In addition to writing and speaker, Hargrove is actively involved with racial reconciliation through the Christian Community Development Association, a national organization, and local monthly Supper Clubs, "gatherings of Christians of all races to share a covered dish and honest conversation about race."
